AIA launches in the Middle East – it is the fifth international chapter that AIA has launched and put its seal of approval on. Since the official signing of the Charter last year in September, the chapter has gathered a lot of steam, and is slowly but surely, achieving its objectives. There will be four Board members to deliver the presentation, and answer questions.

Alex has over 30 years experience in the construction industry. He has worked in both the private and public sectors in the UK and in SE Asia and the Middle East. Alex’s work has covered a wide range of design, construction development and research experience; in architectural practice, academe and the constructional steel and concrete sectors. He brings to Davis Langdon a wealth of experience in sustainable construction, its quantitative measurement and in design research and technology.

Seminar 3: Knowledge and Design: Towards Responsive Architectural Pedagogy and Practice: Dr Ashraf Salama: Professor & Founding Head of Architecture and Urban Planning at Qatar University
Professor Salama is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy-FHEA and the Royal Society of theArts-FRSA. He has held permanent, tenured, and visiting positions in Egypt (Misr International University and Al-Azhar University), Italy (University of Naples Federico II), Qatar (Qatar University), Saudi Arabia (King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals), and the United Kingdom (Queen's University Belfast). He is the chief editor of Archnet-IJAR:International Journal of Architectural Research, collaborating editor of Open House International-OHI, editorial board member of Time-Based Architecture International, and International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health-IJERPH, member of the senior advisory board of LONAARD-London Art and Architecture Research and Design Group, and member of the editorial board of Architects for Peace.

David Koren is an Associate Principal and the Director of Marketing at Perkins Eastman, the largest architecture firm in New York. He is responsible for providing overall marketing strategy, leading the firm’s business development efforts, and supervising marketing staff in the firm's 13 offices around the United States and abroad. Prior to joining Perkins Eastman, David was a Senior Associate and Marketing Director of Gensler's Northeast Region for more than 8 years. In January 2008, David was named one of the "40 under 40" in Building Design & Construction Magazine.
